  Independence day is one of the most significant events celebrated by the Filipinos annually on June 12 — it is the day when we were freed by the Spanish colonial rule, with and by the braveness of our national heroes that fought against those who wished to claim our country, the Philippines; as their own. Additionally, Independence day promotes nationalism and patriotism for the home country. It teaches people how our heroes fought and sacrificed for us to have the freedom we have today, and that also shows us the great importance of having our own freedom for many things. Through this day, we can pay our love and respects to those who battled against the colonizers for a better, brighter tomorrow.
