The significance of our foundation.

 

Kannawidan is one of the most significant festivals that Filipinos celebrate. A time for sharing and giving, this festival gives light to the idea of learning the happiness in offering kindness to others.

Kannawidan commemorates the separation of two Ilocos provinces back in 1818. In celebrations, it shows different Filipino dishes, cultural dances, religious rituals and many more. To a Filipino, Kannawidan is more than regular festivals; it is the soul that made us who we are today. Traditions, history, customs and ceremonies; all of these are wonderfully showcased in celebrating Kannawidan. You could say, it is even the foundation of the Ilocos we know today!

If you ask me, Kannawidan is a festival not to be missed. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, many of its well-known activities have been stopped for the meantime. But as long as we, Filipinos, fight together the hurdles that hinder us from the celebration of a lifetime; surely, we will be able to experience it in no time!
