Why do we choose those who will destroy us?

 Dear Duterte,

Where were you when the people needed your guidance? The promises you made back then, how you vowed to rid this failing country of its deceit, were they nothing more than empty lies?

Our system is dying. Millions have died at your disposal, and yet the war on drugs still persists. Don’t you feel any guilt for the innocent? You promised peace, but brought us disruption. You promised change, but brought us death. You were supposed to be a leader, but failed. And horribly, at that. You might’ve done a few good things for the country, but how do you compare that with the “changes” now? Has there been any significance during your reign? None. Government officials are still corrupted. The people are still reaching out for your help, but did you respond as a President should? The time during pandemic should’ve been a chance for you to redeem yourself. Instead, you brought even more shame and embarrasment to your name. You responded poorly, and the whole country is suffering because of it. Now, the economy is becoming worse than it was before. I believe that your reign has been nothing but the people struggling to cope with your mistakes.

I’m not one to tell you to do a better job. If a person is unsuitable for the position, why keep them there?
